DEXTER -- J. R. Goodson, 87, of Malden, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, at the Ridgeview Nursing Home in Malden. He was born Nov. 18, 1910, at Karber Ridge, Ill., son of Thomas J. and Mary Alice Williams Goodson. He married Ethel Shaffer on Nov. 20, 1937, in Caruthersville. She died Nov. 12, 1993...

DEXTER -- J. R. Goodson, 87, of Malden, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, at the Ridgeview Nursing Home in Malden.

He was born Nov. 18, 1910, at Karber Ridge, Ill., son of Thomas J. and Mary Alice Williams Goodson. He married Ethel Shaffer on Nov. 20, 1937, in Caruthersville. She died Nov. 12, 1993.

He was a former resident of Pascola and had lived in the Bernie area since 1954. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include a brother, Orville Goodson of St. Louis; and two sisters, Emma Casey of Shawneetown, Ill., and Dora Smith of St. Louis.

Friends may call at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

Service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jesse Waters of Bernie officiating. Burial will be in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter.
