CHAFFEE, Mo. -- J.P. Montgomery, 89, of Keller, Texas, formerly of Chaffee, died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine, Texas. He was born April 23, 1914, in Wiseman, Ark., son of Ulysses Palmer and Frances Myrtle Pinkston Montgomery. He and Kathryn Bowden were married Nov. 18, 1935. She died April 1, 2000...

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- J.P. Montgomery, 89, of Keller, Texas, formerly of Chaffee, died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine, Texas.

He was born April 23, 1914, in Wiseman, Ark., son of Ulysses Palmer and Frances Myrtle Pinkston Montgomery. He and Kathryn Bowden were married Nov. 18, 1935. She died April 1, 2000.

Montgomery had owned and operated Montgomery Motor Co. in Chaffee. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Chaffee.

Survivors include a sister, Movidene Cutler of Chaffee; three grandchildren, Jeff Montgomery of McKinney, Texas, Debra Chatterton of Plano, Texas, Marty Montgomery of Keller; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, John Montgomery; four brothers; and a sister.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 5 p.m. Thursday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church. The Revs. Gerald Collier and Cliff Day will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Garden near Morley, Mo.
