Joyce Birk Leming, 78, of Jackson died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 25, 1931, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Rhienard and Beaulah Brown Birk. She and Charles C. "Bud" Leming were married June 17, 1951, in Little Rock, Ark. They were happily married 35 years. He preceded her in death Dec. 27, 2005.
Leming was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. She dedicated her life to her husband and children. She was a member of PEO and sang in the church choir.
She loved her time at the family cottage at Kentucky Lake. She enjoyed playing in women's and couple's bridge groups.
Survivors include a son, Charles "Chuck" Leming II of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Susan Leming of St. Louis, Lynne Einsiedel and husband Loren of Wauwatosa, Wis., Caryn Pirano and husband Vince of Downey, Calif.; two sisters, Phyllis Lukefahr of Cape Girardeau, Pat Gibbs of Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter, Nancy Leming.
A memorial service will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church at 10 a.m., Saturday, with Ms. Karen Mustoe officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Southeast Hospice or Centenary United Methodist Memorial Fund.
