DYERSBURG, Tenn. -- Joy Griswell, 73, of Dyersburg, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Reelfoot Manor Nursing and Rehab in Tiptonville, Tennesse.
She was born in McNairy, Tennessee, on Feb. 3, 1942, to the late Alvin and Ocie Loraine Smith Griswell.
Joy was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice Elaine (Brian Munsterman) Griswell of Zion, Illinois, and Lisa Carol Parr of Dyersburg; two brothers, Jerry Griswell of Salem, Missouri, and Lonnie Griswell of Missouri City, Texas; two sisters, Nancy Reynolds and Sylvia Hager, both of Cape Girardeau; a special friend, Dave Greer of Zion, Illinois; two grandchildren, Letecia Marie McCreight and Shaunda Elaine Strayhorn; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; one brother; a grandson, Michael Edwin Fernandez; a soulmate, James R. Henson; and one brother-in-law, Joe Hager Sr.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Missouri.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance, Missouri, with the Rev. Robert Hendrix Jr. officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to 602 Vine St., Advance, MO 63730 to go toward a headstone.
