CHICAGO -- Josie M. Harris, 84, of Chicago, formerly of Charleston, died Monday, May 26, 1997, at Jackson Park Hospital in Chicago.
She was born Oct. 8, 1912 in Brookhaven, Miss., the daughter of Harry and Amanda Keys.
She was a member of Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Charleston, where she served on the Mother's Board and the choir.
Survivors include two sons, Jacob Harris of Chicago and Alfred Harris of Memphis, Tenn.; four daughters, Mildred Strong and Mary Peterson of Chicago, Jeanette Jefferson of Columbia and Carolyn Betts of Indianapolis; 23 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from noon until 6 p.m. Friday at Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Charleston with the Rev. J.L. Posey officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
