ADVANCE, Mo. -- Josie Capps, 79, of Advance passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at her home.
She was born Nov. 13, 1930, in Limestonebelly, Ark., daughter of James and Mildred Baxter Lankford. Josie and James Robert Capps were married in February 1946 in Vanduser, Mo. He preceded her in death Sept. 29, 1990.
Josie was of the Jehovah's Witnesses belief.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby Glen Capps of St. Louis, Coleman and Willy Capps of Advance; four daughters, Phyllis VanGennip of Advance, Janey Capps of Illinois, Vicky Green of Advance, Rosalee Peterdrodey of St. Louis; a stepson, Joe Capps of Advance; three stepdaughters, Shirley Kidd of Advance, Mary Glascock of Alaska and Patricia Starkel of Dexter, Mo.
Also a brother, C.J. Lankford of Nebraska; eight sisters; Ina Adams of St. Louis, Leona Lesch of Delta, Neda Bagwell of Cape Girardeau, Lela Jaco of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Sharon Rogers of Greenville, Mo., Kay Lesch of Delta, Kathy Razor of Scott City, Elaine Lankford of St. Louis; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a stepson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Morgan Funeral Home in Advance is in charge of arrangements.
