Joseph H. Tenholder, 67, of Cahokia, Ill., died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis, Ill.
He was born Dec. 23, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, son of Martin and Hannah Van Deven Tenholder. He and Corrinne Holzum were married May 21, 1955, at Glennon, Mo.
Mr. Tenholder was retired after 38 years with Elfrink Truck Lines in St. Louis, was employed by Cahokia School District 187, and First Student Bus Lines in Belleville, Ill.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 600 of St. Louis 40 years, member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 4596 in Cahokia. He was an avid golfer and bowler.
Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Larry (Sharon) Tenholder of Waterloo, Ill., Edward (Teresa) Tenholder of St. Charles, Mo., Daniel (Theresa) Tenholder of Clarksville, Tenn., Terry (Pam) Tenholder of Waterloo, Robert (Carolyn) Tenholder of Cape Girardeau, Rick Tenholder of Cahokia, Randy Tenholder of Belleville; five sisters, Leola Tenholder, Agatha Debrock and Julie Lutes of Leopold, Mo., Mary (Bud) Vandeven of Marble Hill, Mo., Rose Elfrink of Belleville; 15 grandchildren; dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Allen Tenholder, and his parents.
Friends may call at Braun Colonial Funeral Home in Cahokia from 3:30 to 8 p.m. today. A prayer service will be held at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia. The Rev. Gerald Hechenberger will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Family/St. Joseph Cemetery in Dupo, Ill.
Memorials may be made to Corpus Christi School.
