Joseph B. Stephens, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born April 23, 1922, in Bell City, Mo., son of Matt and Jennie Nichelson Stephens. He and Rosybell Steward were married Nov. 11, 1939, in Benton, Mo.

Joseph was a carpenter and worked many years for Riverside Lumber Co. He was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include his wife, Rosybell Stephens of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Peggy June Landewee of Cape Girardeau, Bonnie Jo Pierce of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a brother, Charles Stephens of Bloomfield, Mo.; two grandchildren, Julie (Jim) Williams of Poplar Bluff, David (Vivian) Landewee of Liberty, Mo.; six great-grandchildren, Brennon, Braedon and Bailey Williams of Poplar Bluff; Stephen, Brittany and Josh Landewee of Liberty.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe McCullough officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
