Joseph H. Quatmann IV, 86, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 15, 2000. He was born April 24, 1913, at St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Joseph H. and Anna Cecelia Hopkins Quatmann III. He married Marian Hass on May 13, 1939, at Little Flower Parish, St. Louis, Missouri. She preceded in death Feb. 19, 1987...

Joseph H. Quatmann IV, 86, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 15, 2000.

He was born April 24, 1913, at St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Joseph H. and Anna Cecelia Hopkins Quatmann III. He married Marian Hass on May 13, 1939, at Little Flower Parish, St. Louis, Missouri. She preceded in death Feb. 19, 1987.

Mr. Quatmann married Rosemary Blanton Barr of Sikeston, Missouri, on May 19, 1990. She survives.

As a young man, Mr. Quatmann worked for Purina Mills at St. Louis, Missouri, and Oberketter Studios in Peoria, Ill. In 1939, he moved to Cape Girardeau, where he later became president of Superior Electric Corporation from 1946 to 1968. He served twenty-five years on the Board of Directors for the Cape Girardeau branch of the Mercantile Bank.

Mr. Quatmann was an active member of St. Vincent's Parish, where he attended the 6:30 a.m. daily Mass for almost fifty years. He participated in annual retreats at the White House Retreat Center for over 40 years.

Survivors include four sons, Joseph H. Quatmann V of Phoenix, Arizona, Robert Paul Quatmann of Eureka, Missouri, Charles Theodore Quatmann of Jackson, Missouri and Edmund Lawrence Quatmann of St. Louis, Missouri; three daughters, Antoinette Marie Walters of Kansas City, Missouri, Victoria Yvonne Quatmann of Lake City, Tennessee, and Catherine Marie Stoverink of Jackson, Missouri; six stepsons; three stepdaughters; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 19 step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edward Quatmann of Arnold, Missouri.

His sister Emma preceded him in death.

Visitation will be Monday, January 17, 2000, at St. Vincent's Parish Church, 1913 Ritter Dr., Cape Girardeau, Missouri, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will follow at 7 p.m. Private interment will be Tuesday morning at St. Mary's Cemetery, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home, 1001 North Mt. Auburn Road, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, is in charge of arrangements for those wishing to send flowers. The family requests that donations be made to the White House Retreat Center, 3601 Lindell Blvd., Suite 204, St. Louis, Mo. 63108-3301.
