PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Joseph J. Martens, 92, of Perryville died Friday, June 4, 2010, at Ste. Genevieve Care Center in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.
He was born March 26, 1918, in Perry County, son of August and Caroline Hoog Martens. He and Dolores T. Brown were married Nov. 23, 1940, in Perryville. She preceded him in death March 17, 2000.
Mr. Martens had been a farmer. He was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and was an American Legion Booster.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Jo Ellen Steffan of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Sharon Hoff and Gayle Ann Lynn of Perryville; two sons, Kenneth Martens of Perryville, James Martens of Orange Park, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Family Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sereno, Mo., with the Rev. Bill Rhinehart officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Safe Harbor Hospice or local FFA.
