Joseph L. Hohler Jr., 53, of South Boardman, Mich., passed away suddenly Saturday, July 9, 2005, in a motorcycle accident.
Born Sept. 21, 1951, in Kalamazoo, Mich., he was the son of Joseph and Dorothy Lindner Hohler Sr.
Joseph graduated from Hackett Catholic Central High School in 1969. He continued his education and graduated from Kalamazoo Valley College and Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, Mich.
He married Jackie Haight Oct. 3, 1980, in Kalamazoo. They moved to South Boardman in 1998 from Kalamazoo.
Joseph was employed by Sara Lee in Traverse City and previously worked at National Waterlift in Kalamazoo 23 years. He enjoyed golfing, playing pool, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Joseph is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Jackie; his children, Laura (Tim) Buist of Mattawan, Mich., Gina (Mike) Bax of Portage, Mich., Mike (Sara) Wessel of Vicksburg, Mich., Peter (Wendy) Wessel of Long Rapids, Mich., Joseph L. (Amy) Hohler III of Kalamazoo; his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Hohler Sr. of Kalamazoo; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Also his siblings, Tom (Nancy) Hohler of West Jordan, Utah, Alice (John Danielson) Hohler of Vicksburg, Paul (Roxanne) Hohler of Richland, Mich., Bill (Barb) Hohler of Meridian, Idaho, Sharon Meade of Holland, Mich., Steven Hohler of Butte, Mont., Richard (Julie) Hohler of Mattawan, James (Maureen Hohler of Lakeview, Mich., Susan (Steve) Bradford of Comstock, Mich., John (Melanie) Hohler of South Bend, Ind., Laura (Jason) Nieboer of Kalamazoo, Michael (Tia) Hohler of Kalamazoo; and 29 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from noon to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska, Mich.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with additional visitation two hours prior to the service. Dan Biteman of Grawn United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Ingersoll Cemetery in South Boardman.
Memorials may be made on behalf of Joseph to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105-1905.
