ADVANCE, Mo. -- Joseph Harding "Joe" Heskett, 91, of Advance passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Horn Beak, Tennessee, to William Harold and Anna Farris. He and Rose Annetta Best were married Dec. 6, 1947, in St. Louis. She preceded him in death Sept. 13, 2014.
Joe had lived in Arnold, Missouri, many years, moved to Zalma, Missouri, in 1976 and later moved to Advance. He had worked for Maloney Electric in St. Louis, and after moving to Zalma, he and his wife owned and operated the Zalma Liquor Store and then Joe's Place in Advance.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Bonnie) Heskett of Fenton, Missouri; five daughters, Pamela J. (Dennis) Pittman of Millersville, Deborah J. Kahl of Cape Girardeau, Vickie G. (Randy) Rhodes of Zalma, Brenda L. Abernathy and Sharon R. Wade of Advance; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles H. Heskett of Muskegon, Michigan; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, W. "Russell", Lance T. "Jack", Paul D. and his twin James H. "Jim" Heskett, and three sisters, Katherine J. Strickler, Clara D. Blechle and Nell R. Allison.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Tippen of Bloomfield, Missouri, officiating. Interment will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
