Joseph Lee "Joe Fig" Figliolo, 74, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at his home.
Joe was born April 8, 1941, in Nettleton, Arkansas.
Joe moved to Cape Girardeau to raise his young family. He worked for Skinner Plumbing and Heating as an apprentice plumber, for Paramount Liquor Company as a delivery driver and for Cape Central Airways on the flight line while building up his own construction company, Figliolo Construction Inc., which he operated until 1975.
He then worked for the city of Cape Girardeau as the on-site inspector during the construction of the city-owned swimming pool at Central High School, now Central Junior High. Joe then worked as a code inspector for the city until 1986.
Joe had a love of motorcycles and hot-rod cars. He built several street rods for himself over the years. He also enjoyed building motors for his cars.
On Dec. 3, 1989, Joe married the love of his life, Rebecca "Beckie" Wilson Biri.
He is survived by his wife; four children, Cindy Voelker (Kim Guidry) of Monroe City, Louisiana, Brad (Carolyn) Figliolo of Cape Girardeau, Michele Figliolo (Kendra Evans) of Cape Girardeau and Mike (Angie) Figliolo of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Greg, Paige, Brittany, Troy, Ashley, Jesse, Caylee and Anthony; 14 great-grandchildren, Pyper, Grady, Grant, Ryley, Nova, Gavyn, Kali, Jase, Mackenzie, Tate, Kamryn, Kersten, Kaden and Kingston; and a brother, Rick (Toni) Figliolo of Festus, Missouri.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Figliolo; a son, Joe Figliolo Jr.; and a grandson, Tyler Figliolo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family toward funeral expenses.
