CAIRO, Ill. -- Joseph K. Davis, 63, of Cairo died Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He was born Nov. 7, 1933, in Cairo, son of Aud M. and Ethel Snow Davis.
Davis retired as owner and president of Illinois Minerals Mining Co. in Cairo. He served on the board of directors of First Bank and Trust Co., Cairo Municipal Airport Authority, Alexander County Building Commission, and Cairo Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Cairo Elks Lodge 651, Cairo Masonic Lodge 237 AF&AM, Sons of the American Revolution, life member of KIM Shrine Club of Cairo, Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis, and 32nd Degree Mason with Scottish Rite Bodes of Southern Illinois. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include a daughter, Heather Davis of Lombard; a son, Jason Davis of Naperville; and a sister, Nancy Hanley of San Francisco, Calif.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 4 p.m. Thursday. Elks service will be at 7:30, and Masonic rites at 8.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kelly Cox officiating. Burial will be in Mound City National Cemetery.
