Joseph R. "Joe" Culver Sr., 63, of Jackson passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Joseph R. "Joe" Culver Sr., 63, of Jackson passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 16, 1954, in Marion, Indiana, to Louis Harrison and Lois Harriet Chockley Culver. He and Diana Hale were married Jan. 1, 1975, at First Baptist Church in Jackson.

Joe was a graduate of Charleston (Missouri) High School. He was involved in Boy Scout leadership. Joe was a former member of the Jaycees and New McKendree Church in Jackson.

Joe's employment included Lee Rowan-Rubbermaid, West Lake Quarry, several convenience stores in Jackson, Pizza Hut in Jackson, manager of the former Kentucky Fried Chicken in Jackson, and, most recently, Mobil Gas in Jackson.

Loving survivors include his wife, Diana Culver of Jackson; two children, Rebecca Culver (Aaron) Whitmer, and daughters Madison, Hayley and Susannah of Patterson, Missouri, and Joseph R. "Joey" Culver Jr. of Jackson; his mother, Lois Culver of Cape Girardeau; four siblings, Mike (Tina) Culver of Cape Girardeau, Sharon (Walt) Adney of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Brian (Barbara) Culver of Perryville, Missouri, and Susan (Bill) Harper of Sikeston, Missouri; and a half sister, Connie L. Nurmi of Fort Worth, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at The Exchange Community, 5195 Old Cape Road East (South Outer Road) in Jackson.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Ted Torreson officiating.
