Joseph G. Chuck, 83, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Dongola, Ill., and Hammond, Ind., died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo. He was born Nov. 20, 1926, in East Chicago, Ind., to Joseph and Barbara Sector Chuck. He married Janice Lee Earnhart on Aug. 7, 1976. She preceded him in death March 18, 2002...

Joseph G. Chuck, 83, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Dongola, Ill., and Hammond, Ind., died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.

He was born Nov. 20, 1926, in East Chicago, Ind., to Joseph and Barbara Sector Chuck. He married Janice Lee Earnhart on Aug. 7, 1976. She preceded him in death March 18, 2002.

Chuck served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He retired from Inland Steel in East Chicago. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, United Steel Workers Local 1010 and American Legion Post 63 in Cape Girardeau. He enjoyed listening to music.

Survivors include two sisters, Goldie Petraitis and Mildred (Rev. Robert) Goins of Anna, Ill.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roy and Joyce Rhodes of Scott City; mother-in-law, Mary Earnhart of Cape Girardeau; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Duckworth officiating. Interment will be in Meisenheimer Cemetery, with military honors by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 and Illinois National Guard Honor Unit.

Memorials may be made to Meisenheimer Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
