CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Joseph Edward Burk, 93, of Charleston died Monday, June 12, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Nov. 23, 1906, in Hornersville, son of Joseph Edward and Edith Fike Burk Sr. He and Edith Mae Pride were married Nov. 25, 1933. She died Jan. 16, 1992...

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Joseph Edward Burk, 93, of Charleston died Monday, June 12, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 23, 1906, in Hornersville, son of Joseph Edward and Edith Fike Burk Sr. He and Edith Mae Pride were married Nov. 25, 1933. She died Jan. 16, 1992.

Burk lived in Mississippi County most of his life and was a retired farmer. He was a member of LuLu Baptist Church in Hornersville.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Burk III of Anna, Ill., Coy Burk of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two daughters, Iva Norris of St. Charles, Gleda Murray of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Herbert Burk of Flint, Mich., Ben Burk of Qulin; three sisters, Freda Ferrell of Dallas, Texas, Mary Branum of Hornersville, Betty Maxwell of Arbyrd; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, two daughters, two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Meeks officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
