JOSEPH BENNETT

ANNA, Ill. -- Funeral service for Joseph E. Bennett of Anna will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Crain Funeral Home in Anna. The Rev. Howard Opperman will officiate, with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.

Bennett, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.

He was born Jan. 3, 1909, in Whittington, son of Jarva and Rachel Matilda Warren Bennett. He and Audrey Katherine Bedwell were married Oct. 28, 1928. She died June 6, 1976. He later married Dora Corsey Feb. 4, 1977. She died Feb. 2, 1989.

Bennett was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include three sons, David Bennett of Bolivar, Mo., Joe Bennett of Alto Pass, Floyd Bennett of Murphysboro; three daughters, Edna Caldwell of Murphysboro, Daisy Ferguson of Granite City, Wanda McDaniel of Ava; a sister, Fannie McBride of Roxana; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons.
