Joseph Lynn Bellis, 63, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, July 29, 2005, at his home.

He was born Jan. 18, 1942, in Chaffee, Mo., son of Harlan and Katherine Sawyer Bellis.

Bellis was a self-employed electrical engineer.

Bellis was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Army. He was a member and past master of Chaffee Lodge 615, St. Marks Lodge 93 in Cape Girardeau, a member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Bodys of St. Louis, Mo., a 32nd degree Mason and KCCH. He was a past Venerable Master of the Lodge of Perfection of St. Louis. Bellis was a member and past president of Capaha Scottish Rite of Cape Girardeau, Wilson Chapter 75, Cape Council 20 and Cape Girardeau Commandrey 55. He was a member of Cape Shrine Club and a charter member and past president of Cape Shrine Club Clowns. He was a member of International Order of Demolay and was awarded the Legion of Honor. Bellis was also a past Worthy Patron of Morley, Mo., 342 O.E.S. and Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810. He belonged to the Broadcast Engineers Society of Mo.

Survivors include a son, Whitney Bellis of Scott City; a daughter, Tiffany Borgwald of Eureka, Mo.; a brother, Michael Bellis of Okla.; three sisters, Judy Dysinger and Cathy Bellis, both of Okla., Terri Gestring of St. Louis; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Masonic Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the St. Marks Lodge 93 officiating.
