JOSEPH BAIN

EAST PRAIRIE -- Joseph Ralph Bain, 86, of East Prairie died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000.

He was born April 7, 1913, at Camden, Tenn., son of Joseph Newton and Delia Herrin Bain. He and Gertrude Isadore Thresher were married Dec. 9, 1951, at East Prairie.

He had lived in Mississippi County most of his life. He was a retired farmer and had been a rural carrier of the United States Post Office for 17 years. Bain was a member of the First Baptist Church at East Prairie. He served with the United States Air Force during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Stuart R. Bain of East Prairie; a daughter, Marsha Lynn Adkisson of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Hazel Crisel of East Prairie and Trudean Cole of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home at East Prairie.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel. The Rev. George White will officiate, with burial to follow at the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
