EAST PRAIRIE -- Jolly J. Grounds, 66, of Brighton, Ill., died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1997, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, Ill.
He was born Aug. 21, 1930, at Cave-in-Rock, Ill., son of Jolly and Gertie Cruse Grounds. He and Bonnie J. Ray were married July 3, 1958.
Grounds was a crew leader 30 years at Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Alton, retiring in 1990.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sandi Beleford of Rosiclare, Ill.; a brother, John Grounds of Godfrey, Ill.; a sister, Molly Huffsey of Eldorado, Ill.; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Private funeral service will be held Saturday at Dogwood Methodist Church, with the Rev. Larry Rouse officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie is in charge of arrangements.
