Johnny Marie Sumpter, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 31, 2007, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born May 13, 1920, in Rock Island, Ill., daughter of John Thomas and Emma Harris Carlton.
Sumpter had worked for Cape LaCroix Apartments and Mississippi Valley Barge Lines. She was a member of La Croix United Methodist Church, St. Mark's Chapter 167 Order of Eastern Star, Order of Amaranth and VFW Post 3838.
Survivors include a son, Delbert Kelley of Evansville, Ind.; three grandchildren, Michael Kelley, Steven Kelley and Bonnie Biggs; a sister, Pauline Koch of Cape Girardeau; two nieces, Linda Caldwell of Cape Girardeau and Cheryl Thomas of Jackson; and a nephew, Larry Koch of Albuquerque.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. The Order of Eastern Star service will be at 7 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Watts officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
Memorials may be made to La Croix United Methodist Church Building Fund.
