EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Johnnie Bowers, 71, of East Prairie died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
He was born Jan. 5, 1930, at Buffington, Mo., son of John and Mary M. Jones Bowers. He and Louise Buckley were married Aug. 18, 1952, in Piggott, Ark.
Bowers was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jimmy Bowers of Sikeston, Glen Bowers of Gosnell, Ark.; four daughters, Janet Steere of Malden, Mo., Cheryl Metheny of Fisk, Mo., Carol Jones and Melissa Winchester of East Prairie.
Also surviving are four brothers, Estel Bowers of Jackson, Mo., R.V. Bowers of Sikeston, L.D. Bowers of Puxico, Mo., Paul Bowers of Rockford, Ill.; three sisters, Doris Darris of Black Rock, Ark., Evelyn Carnell of Dutchtown, Mo., Bernice Tubbs of Mer Rouge, La.; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, a sister, and a brother.
Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Jon Archie officiating. Burial will be in Hagy Cemetery at Dexter, Mo.
