John David Yuracko, 63, of McAlester, Okla., died Friday, April 27, 2007, at his home. He was born Sept. 1, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, son of William and Mildred Yuracko. He and Betty Ann Verner were married Aug. 17, 1968. John David Yuracko, 63, of McAlester, Okla., died Friday, April 27, 2007, at his home.

He was born Sept. 1, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, son of William and Mildred Yuracko. He and Betty Ann Verner were married Aug. 17, 1968.

Yuracko was a 1961 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School, received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from St. Louis University, and a master's in administrative education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

He taught at Duchenne High School and Northwest High School in St. Louis. He moved to St. Clair, Mo., in 1971 and began teaching in the Union School District, retiring in 1997. During that time he also taught several courses at East Central College.

Yuracko moved back to Cape Girardeau in 2000 and then moved to McAlester in 2004.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Melanie McKean of Chicago; two sisters, Mari Jo Lynch of Cape Girardeau, Martha McCart of Connecticut; a brother, William Yuracko of New York; and a grandson.

The funeral was held May 1 at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester. The Rev. Leonard Higgins officiated.
