MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- John Jennings Wilkinson, 83, of Marble Hill passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 30, 1930, in Patton, Mo., son of Leslie and Louie Slinkard Wilkinson. He and Viola Pauline Angle were married Nov. 25, 1954.

John was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He attended Southeast Missouri State University. He worked at Deavers Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau and was later employed at Lee Rowan Inc. of Jackson for 26 years, retiring as a department supervisor.

John was a member of Little Whitewater Missionary Baptist Church. He was a past president of Bollinger County Antique Tractor Club and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and riding four-wheelers.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline; two sons, Jennings (Barbara) Wilkinson and Wade (Amanda) Wilkinson of Marble Hill; a daughter, Gail (Rodney) Baker of Marble Hill; a brother, Franklin (Nelda) Wilkinson of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Janice Douglas of Ironton, Mo., and Lula Bell (Cletus) Angle of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Brittany (Jared) Lacy, Jodi (Devon) James, Adam, Sarah, Seth, Caleb and Joshua Wilkinson; and two great-grandchildren, Zoie and Eli.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Elijah Allen and the Rev. Joe Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military honors provided by Missouri Honors Team.
