CHAFFEE, Mo. -- John Edward Walker Sr., was born June 10,1936, to the late John Perry and Frances Kennedy Walker in Cape Girardeau and departed this life Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

On April 26, 1965, he married Gwendolyn Sue Edmonds in Chaffee. She preceded him in death June 7, 2014.

He served his country four years as a Marine and served in the Korean War. He was a conductor for the BNSF Railroad for 30 years. He attended church at the House of Prayer in Chaffee.

John is survived by seven children, Brenda (Stanton) Anderson of Kelso, Missouri; John "Boy" (Jeannie) Walker, Lesia (David) Glastetter and Tina (Lee) Horton, all of Chaffee; Angela (Toby) Zoellner of Perryville, Missouri; Cecile (Mat) Schober of Glen Allen, Missouri; and Kimberly Boese of Chaffee; a brother, Charles (Tom) Walker of California; 22 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Apart from his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Glen A. Bentley, and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Travis Hendrix and Joe Carpenter officiating. There will be a private family burial Monday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
