SIKESTON -- John Hill Stewart, 76, of Sikeston died Monday, June 2, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 26, 1920, in Fayette County, Ala., son of John Leslie and Julia Ann Phillips Stewart. He and Esther Mae Mays were married July 31, 1939, in Hamilton, Ala. She died March 26, 1997.
Stewart was a truck driver from 1956-82 for L.A. Tucker Truck Lines. He was a member of Teamsters Local 574, and Shady Acres Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Darrell Stewart of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Dorothy Wagley and Sondra Armour of Sikeston; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, three brothers, and a sister.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with Pat Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
