CHESTERFIELD, Mo. -- John Raymond Spicer, 76, of Chesterfield died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at the Missouri Baptist Church in Chesterfield. He was born Oct. 29, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, son of John Henry and Helen Marie Johnson Spicer. He and Lucille Washington were married. She died Aug. 25, 1996...

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. -- John Raymond Spicer, 76, of Chesterfield died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at the Missouri Baptist Church in Chesterfield.

He was born Oct. 29, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, son of John Henry and Helen Marie Johnson Spicer. He and Lucille Washington were married. She died Aug. 25, 1996.

Spicer graduated from John S. Cobb High School in Cape Girardeau. He served as principal at McKinley, Central and Lincoln high schools in St. Louis. Spicer also was principal at Sumner High School in Boonville, Mo. He was a member Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and the Royal Vagabonds of St. Louis.

Survivors include a son, William Robert Spicer of Chesterfield; a brother, Robert Spicer of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Alberta Kemp of Milwaukee, Wis.; two granddaughters; and three great-granddaughters.

Friends may call at Austin Layne Mortuary in St. Louis from 4-6 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral will be at noon Monday at the mortuary, with burial at Columbia Cemetery in Columbia, Mo.

Warren Funeral Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.
