John G. Sonderman, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at Missouri Veteran's Home in Cape Girar-deau. He was born April 13, 1920, in Fredericktown, Mo., son of Joseph Thomas and Lulu Buckner Sonderman. He and Cecelia "Skeets" Meinz were married Sept. 2, 1950, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. She died Sept. 30, 1998...

John G. Sonderman, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at Missouri Veteran's Home in Cape Girar-deau.

He was born April 13, 1920, in Fredericktown, Mo., son of Joseph Thomas and Lulu Buckner Sonderman. He and Cecelia "Skeets" Meinz were married Sept. 2, 1950, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. She died Sept. 30, 1998.

Sonderman was a graduate of Fredericktown High School.

He served in the Navy in World War II from April 27, 1942, to Dec. 1, 1945.

He lived in Fredericktown until his marriage, at which time he moved to Cape Girardeau.

Sonderman worked for Jim Wilson Co. for 31 years and 10 years at an affiliate store in Paducah, Ky. He retired in 1982. He was a member of VFW Post 3838, Cape Senior Center and volunteered at the Missouri Veterans Home.

Survivors include three sisters, Martha Carey of Panama, Mary Helen Chrismore and Rose Marie Sonderman of Placentia, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Schaffner officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
