John Reginald Smith, 93, of Jackson died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at his home. He was born April 27, 1913, at Fredericktown, Mo., son of Turner Lafayette and Nora PollyLee Statler Smith. John Reginald Smith, 93, of Jackson died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at his home.

He was born April 27, 1913, at Fredericktown, Mo., son of Turner Lafayette and Nora PollyLee Statler Smith. He and Mary Louise Poe were married Jan. 4, 1936.

Smith was a 1933 graduate of Jackson High School. He was a sole layer and heel trimmer at International Shoe Co. 41 years, retiring in 1975.

He was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, Excelsior Lodge 441 AF&AM, Scottish Rite, was a 32nd Degree Mason, charter member of Jackson Camera Club, and coached Little League baseball in Jackson several years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael (Martha) Smith of Jackson, Tim (Sue) Smith of Ellisville, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen and Leland, and two sisters, Hazel and Susie.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be held at 7.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Rice and the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New McKendree United Methodist Church or Shriners Hospital.
