John Roland Sharp, 49, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at his home after an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 5, 1949, in Joplin. He was the son of Ronald and Nadine Morrison Sharp. He married Mary Sue Hogan Aug. 21, 1979, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was a professor of biology at Southeast Missouri State University for 18 years. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Christopher Sharp of the home; three daughters, Amanda, Emily and Jessica Sharp, all of the home; a sister, Barbara Sharp of Aurora, Colo; and his biological parents, William N. Smith of Tulsa, Okla., and Toni Novelley of Broken Arrow, Okla.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church.
A funeral Mass will be said at 7 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Pat McDevitt officiating.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
