BIEHLE -- John S. Schemel, 71, of Biehle, died Tuesday, July 16, 1991, at American Care Center.
He was born March 9, 1920, in Cape Girardeau County, son of William and Emma Biehle Schemel. He and Lutrudis Wibbenmeyer were married June 28, 1952.
Schemel was retired from Penzel Construction Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of St. Maurus Catholic Church here, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Michael Schemel of Jackson, Dale Schemel of Perryville, Carl Schemel of Biehle; three daughters, Kathy Cowan of Perryville, Jera Schemel of Cape Girardeau, Denise Schemel of St. Louis; two sisters, Irene Wischmeyer of St. Louis, Bertha Laurentius of Biehle; a half brother, Gilbert Biehle of St. Louis, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Maurus Church. The Rev. Joseph Eiler will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. A wake will be held at 7.
