BERNIE -- John Wesley Roberts, 69, of Bernie died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.
He was born April 21, 1930, at Essex, son of Joe and Bertha Darby Roberts.
Roberts had lived in Essex, Palmyra, Ill., and moved to Bernie in 1980. He was a member of American Legion Post 0293 at Malden.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Wright, Debbie Roberts and Ruth Gutterman, all of Poplar Bluff; and his mother of Dexter.
Also surviving is a brother, Charles Roberts of Girard, Ill.; four sisters, JoAnn Fralick of Bernie, Judy Roberts of Chicago, Janie Farber of White Hall, Ill., Robin Hargrove of Morehouse; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Doyle Corlew will officiate. Burial will be in Essex Cemetery at Essex.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time.
