COBDEN, Ill. -- John Carroll Pitts, 73, of Cobden, Ill., died Thursday, May 25, 2006, at his home.

He was born Aug. 4, 1932, in Union County, son of Cecil and Sadie Cooper Pitts.

Pitts was a truck weight inspector for the state of Illinois for more than 30 years.

Survivors include a son, Shaun Pitts of Cobden; a daughter, Artenia Jones of Anna, Ill.; two brothers, Joseph and James Pitts of Makanda, Ill.; a sister, Cathy Keedy of Anna, Ill.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Casper Cemetery. David Nave will officiate.

Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.
