ORAN -- John Nickolas Schott, 89, of Oran died Sunday, April 14, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born Nov. 25, 1906, in Oran, the son of Charles and Otillia LeGrand Schott. He married Catherine L. Burger on May 14, 1935. She died Oct. 3, 1991.

Schott was a retired farmer and member of the Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran. He also was a member of St. Joseph Sodality in Oran and Knights of Columbus Council 4311.

Survivors include three sons, A.J. Schott of Kelso, Melvin Schott of New Hamburg and John Schott of Oran; a daughter, Betty DeBrock of Chaffee; five sisters, Corina Seyer of Oran, Sister Ann Catherine Schott of Florissant, Mary Thomas of Jerseyville, Ill., Alma Carter of Sikeston and Sister Alvina Schott of Ruma, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran, where parish prayers will be conducted at 7 and a Knights of Columbus prayer service at 7:30.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
