MALDEN -- John M. Crump, 80, of Malden, died Saturday, July 13, 1996, at Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff.
He was born May 22, 1906, in Whitewater, the son of Ollie and Augusta Schaefer Crump. He married Clara Glass in 1930 in New Madrid, and she preceded him in death in 1953. He then married Ruth I. Christmas on Feb. 26, 1963, in Dexter, and she preceded him in death Nov. 6, 1986.
Crump had lived 30 years in Bernie and the last four years in Malden. He was a retired farmer, carpenter and woodworker. He was a Protestant and had been a Mason with the Puxico Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include two daughters, Mable Thompson of Malden and Delois Slavings of Broseley; a special friend, Linda Gaultney of Malden; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, three brothers and two sisters.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Joe Masters of Bernie officiating and the Rev. Vernon Reese of Malden assisting. Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
