PERRYVILLE -- John Joseph Lurk, 86, of Perryville died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at Perry County Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 20, 1911, at Ste. Genevieve, son of Joseph and Bridget Kiefer Lurk. He and Edna Niswonger were married in November 1933. She died Oct. 11, 1965. He then married Oma M. Warren Sept. 30, 1966, in Perryville.
Lurk had owned and operated Lurk Brothers Hardware Store. He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol Shulte of Perryville; two sisters, Leona Schindler and Clara Guyot of Perryville; a stepdaughter, Donna Ballman of Perryville; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. Sunday, and Monday from 6:30-9:50 a.m. The parish wake service will be at 7 Sunday, and the rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Monday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent's Church. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
