Funeral for John Henry Lewis of Cape Girardeau will be held at 2 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. David Dissen will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum, with VFW graveside rites.
Friends may call at the chapel from 11 a.m. to service time.
Lewis, 64, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, at his home.
He was born Jan. 20, 1934, in Poplar Bluff, son of Willie and Pearl Peerman Lewis. He and Laura Jean Moore were married July 10, 1968, at Poplar Bluff.
Lewis was a 1952 graduate of Central High School. He served in the U.S. Navy four years during the Korean War. He received the Korean, United Nations, China, and National Defense Fighter Squadron medals.
He worked with the U.S. Corps of Engineers four years, and City of Cape Girardeau Street Department 20 years, retiring April 1, 1998. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Terry Lewis of Los Angeles, Calif., Robert Lewis of Jackson; a daughter, Diane Campbell of Cape Girardeau; five sisters, Doss Eaker of Troy, Ill., Kay Riley of Gamaliel, Ark., Jane McDaniel of Cape Girardeau, Pat Howton of Granite City, Ill., Shirley VanGennip of Jackson; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
