MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- John Elbert Legate of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at his home.
He was born Nov. 21, 1958, in Granite City, Illinois, to the late Elbert and Barbara Masters Legate Jr.
John was a tree trimmer for Floyd & Son.
He is survived by two sons, Daune Haffner of Jackson and Joshua Wiggins of Perryville, Missouri; three daughters, Shannon (Jesus) Hernandez of Cape Girardeau, Elizabeth (Matthew) Lord of Jackson and Amanda Wiggins of Marble Hill; brother, Michael Legate of Hiawatha, Iowa; sisters, Debra Salwitz of Palm Bay, Florida, Sandi Cantrell of Sikeston, Missouri, Kim Dunman and Pattie Cicerlli, both of St. Peters, Missouri, and Linda Northrup of Troy, Missouri; grandchildren, Caleb Woodside, Lachelle McClellan, Devon Raffety, John McClellan, Alyssa Lord and Kaden McClenithan; and great-grandson, Jayvar Smith.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral will be at noon Monday at the funeral home, with Kevin Kirpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in McGee Chapel Cemetery in Glen Allen, Missouri.
