CHARLESTON -- John L. Johnson, 69, of Paducah, Ky., died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born June 12, 1928, in Ridgely, Tenn., son of Johnny and Emma Mae Henderson Johnson. He married the former Ophelia Hart.
Johnson lived in Charleston many years, moving to Paducah three years ago.
Survivors include his wife; five brothers, Charles Johnson of Tiptonville, Tenn., W.C., Louis and James Johnson of Paducah, Eugene Johnson of Newbern, Tenn.; seven sisters, Johnnie Rowe, Vernette Bigham and Cora Hines of Charleston, Beaulah Martin and Alice Johnson of Tiptonville, Emma Chamberlain of Paducah, and Learline Hamilton of Carbondale, Ill.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Matthew's Baptist Church, with Elder Johnnie Rowe officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. until service time.
