JOHN J. SELF

OAK RIDGE -- John J. Self, 84, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, Aug. 10, 1992 at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 14, 1907 in Oak Ridge, the son of George W. and Mary Goforth Self.

On Aug. 13, 1938, he married the former Irene Ruch. She survives.

He is also survived by two sons, John W. Self of High Ridge, Jerry L. Self of Oak Ridge; one daughter, Mabel Carnell, Jackson; one sister, Hazel Moore, Oak Ridge; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one step-daughter, four brothers and three sisters.

He had farmed all his life in the Oak Ridge community and was a member of Old Gravel Hill Baptist Church.

Friends may call today from 4-8 p.m. at Cracraft Miller Funeral Chapel in Jackson.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cracraft Miller Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Gearing of Cape Girardeau officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.
