SCOTT CITY -- Funeral service for John J. Kelly of Scott City will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-9 p.m. today.

Kelly, 70, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 18, 1924, at Rouge, son of John J. and Ella Sands Kelly. He married the former Verna Mae Sanford.

Kelly had been a pilot with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of Scott City VFW Post 6407. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include a son, John Kelly III of Cape Girardeau; six daughters, Patricia Foster of Commerce, Shirlene Winch, Vickie Madderra and Judith Mayberry of Scott City, Sandra Braser of St. Louis, Janice Smart of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Virginia Litvan of Florida; 23 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two half brothers and a half sister.
