MOUND CITY, Ill. -- John Harvey Edwards, 71, of Mound City, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born April 10, 1920, at Villa Ridge, son of John M. and Mattie Henderson Edwards.
Edwards was a retired jailer at Mound City Courthouse. He was a member of Cairo Baptist Church, Cairo Elks Lodge, and past commander of American Legion. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Smith of Cairo; a son, Larry Wood of Murphysboro; a sister, Irene Bierbaum of Olmsted; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
His wife, Jewelene, died in 1978.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Crain Funeral Chapel in Mound City. The Revs. Larry Potts and Rick Dawson will officiate, with burial in Beechwood Cemetery at Mounds.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
