CHARLESTON -- John David Godsey, 74, of Charleston died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at his home.

He was born April 29, 1924, in Tennessee, son of Harry and Ollie May Smith Godsey. He and Lillian Marsac were married Dec. 8, 1952.

Godsey had lived in Charleston since 1965, and was a self-employed mechanic.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, John Godsey Jr. of Sacramento, Calif., Paul Godsey of Arkansas, Vernon Godsey, address unknown; two daughters, Patty Babbitt of state of California, and Jeannie Crain of Mt. Carmel, Ill.

Also surviving are two stepsons, Jeff Fisher of Dexter, Keith Adams of Charleston; a stepdaughter, Joyce Fisher of Charleston; two brothers, Wilbur Godsey of Troy, Harry Godsey of Three Rivers, N.D.; two sisters, Madine Smith of Jonesboro, Ark., Dorothy Godsey, address unknown; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Penn officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
