JACKSON -- John Fred Hartle, 79, of Jackson, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born April 28, 1912, in Cape Girardeau County, son of John Fred and Jacie Gladish Hartle. He and Maxine Seabaugh were married July 30, 1942, at Jackson.
Hartle received a bachelor of science degree in social science from St. Louis University, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-45.
He was a soil technician 28 years, retiring in December 1983 from the Soil Conservation Service in Jackson. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158, Jackson Optimist Club and Jackson Bowling League. He also participated in Senior Olympics many years.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Judy Leuthold of Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, Troy and Robert Hartle of Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Chapel. The Rev. William Bernauer will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today. An American Legion honor guard service will be held at 7:30.
