John Franklin Edmundson, 83, of the Missouri Veterans Home, died there Wednesday, Nov. 2, 1994.
He was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Stoddard County, son of Jesse Cleveland and Sattie Lea White Edmundson. He and Margaret Toler Sherman were married Aug. 6, 1953, at Bloomfield.
Edmundson served two terms as clerk of Stoddard County. He taught school in Stoddard County; worked in Washington, D.C., for the late Congressman Orville Zimmerman on the U.S. Capitol Police Force, and was a clerk for the House of Representatives.
He and his wife owned and operated Southern Cafe in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1974.
Edmundson attended the University of Arkansas, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942-45.
He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Amvets, American Legion, and VFW Post 3838.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jackie Brookman of Crestwood, Joan Howard of Cape Girardeau, and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Dr. Neil Stein officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
