JOHN E. SCHWARTZ

SCOTT CITY -- John Edward Schwartz, 79, Scott City Route 1, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Nov. 12, 1911, at New Hamburg, son of Albert and Mary Grasser Schwartz. He and the former Johanna Backfisch were married May 2, 1939, at New Hamburg.

Schwartz was a self-employed farmer, and member of St. Augustine Catholic Church at Kelso.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John F. Schwartz of Thebes, Ill.; two daughters, Shirley Beel of Cape Girardeau, Mary Spinks of St. Louis; a half brother; four half sisters; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, half brother, and grandson, Thomas Beel in 1989.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Church. Msgr. John Westhues will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
