ANNA, Ill. -- John Edward Draper, 81, of Anna died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Union County Hospital in Anna.
He was born June 22, 1919, in Cobden, Ill., son of John C. and Sabra Penland Draper. He and Violet Burnett were married April 14, 1942, in East St. Louis, Ill. She died Jan. 16, 1997.
Draper was retired from Downey Veterans Hospital in North Chicago. He was a member of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 and Anna Moose Lodge 1346.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son, Gary Draper of Elgin, Ill.; a brother, Dean Draper of Cobden; two grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kenneth Mixen officiating. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery, with military honors by VFW Post 3455.
