ORAN, Mo. -- John Thomas Gray Eagle Daniels Jr., 76, of Oran passed away Monday, April 22, 2019, at his family home.

He was born July 19, 1942, in Messler, Missouri, to the late John and Birtha Miller Daniels.

John was retired from the social studies computer department with Ste. Genevieve (Missouri) School District. He was also a retired administrator with the Department of Corrections.

He is a member of Cherokee Wolf Clan of Uma, Tennessee, and the Morley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5368. John served in the Air Force from April 1961 to August 1973 and the National Guard from August 1976 to August 1984.

He is survived by three brothers, Wesley Daniels of Oran, Terry Daniels of Cape Girardeau and Robert Daniels of Jackson; four sisters, Catherine Daniels of Oran, Shirley Pirtle of Randles, Missouri, Effie Dodd of Aquilla, Missouri, and Birtha Griswell of Oran.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Luther, J.R., Wilburn and Sherman Daniels; and two sisters, Helen Cato and Alice Sauceda.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.

Funeral will be at noon Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Leeman Shirrell officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
