POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- John D. Daniel, 85, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at his home.
Born on March 12, 1928, at Garnett, Kan., to the late Namon and Eula Chronister Daniel, he lived most of his life in Bell City, Mo., where he was a self-employed farmer for more than 50 years. A 1946 graduate of Morley High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of VFW Post 3416 in Wappapello, Mo. He enjoyed farming, fishing, reading, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith.
He leaves behind a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Phyllis Daniel of Bell City; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and David Smith of Puxico, Mo.; two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Danielle and Brandon Clark of Puxico and Cynthia and Jacob Turner of Wappapello; a grandson, Lucas Daniel of Bell City; two great-granddaughters, Andrea Clark and Audrie Clark, both of Puxico; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Kathleen Powell of Greenbrier, Ark., and Melba Jean and Joe Dilday of Apoka, Fla.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo., with the Rev. Justin Miller, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Puxico, officiating. Interment will be with full military honors by the Missouri Military Funeral Honor Guard.
